About Us

Nav Bihar Renaissance Foundation The Nav Bihar Renaissance Foundation (NBRF), as the name itself suggests, aims at reviving the lost socio-cultural glory of Bihar in every aspect, from art & craft to education and entrepreneurship, from health and heritage to research and innovation and from community empowerment and environment to sports and skill development, encompassing all other important domains as well, crucial for the development of Bihar. The idea of establishing NBRF is premised upon the potentiality of Bihar’s rich cultural heritage and historically evidenced entrepreneurial spirit.

The NBRF intends to establish itself as an independent think tank promoting the State’s sustainable development through evidence based policy making. It also emphasizes at offering innovative policy solutions, indulging in rigorous research and empirical data collection, and most importantly serving as a significant platform for dialogue and discussion engaging all important stakeholders for the overall development of Bihar. The outlined objectives of the Nav Bihar Renaissance Foundation have been stated as under:

  1. To conduct rigorous, interdisciplinary research and to produce high-quality, peer- reviewed articles on critical development issues confronting Bihar, and also to enter into partnerships with leading national and international research institutions.
  2. To provide evidence-based actionable policy recommendations to different departments of State governments and other important stakeholders by organising quarterly policy roundtables with key decision makers and developing an NBRF policy index to keep a track at the implementation of recommended policies.
  3. To foster innovative solutions and best practices for an efficient governance by establishing an ‘Innovation lab’ to explore technology-driven solutions for developmental challenges and also to launch an annual ‘Bihar Innovation Challenge’ to crowdsource ideas for social impact. The NBRF also intends to develop a Mobile Application for easy citizens’ engagement and important data collection.
  4. To facilitate constructive dialogue and discussion and encourage collaboration among different sectors of society, for instance, establishing a network of district-level coordinators to ensure grassroot connection and strengthening local governance by collaborating with panchayati raj institutions. The NBRF also intends to organise an annual ‘Bihar development conference’ in order to bring together different stakeholders on a common platform for dialogue.
  5. To empower local communities through knowledge dissemination and capacity building and to offer internship and fellowship programs for young researchers and policy enthusiasts. The NBRF also intends to conduct annual training workshops for government officials on evidence-based policy making and extend mentorship and support to local NGOs and civil society organizations in research and advocacy
